Missionary Clothing
September 2006
As of September 2006,
we will be extending our efforts to the provinces of Corrientes
and Salta. On September 5 we sent a box of clothing for future missionaries
from the LDS district "Paso de Los Libres" in the province
of Corrientes. Our coordinator in San Juan continues his efforts
so that we can begin deliveries of clothing to the province of Salta.

Background (February 2003)
At a ward welfare
committee meeting of the Chimbas Ward, Bishop Antonio Ripoll discussed
the departure of 5 missionaries in the next few months from their
ward. Two young men and three sisters. Each auxiliary has responsibilities
for departing missionaries: the ward mission leader seeks for sources
of used, inexpensive luggage; the young women have produced hand-made
journals; the relief society sews new clothing and alters donated
items for the missionaries, etc. After considering these needs,
I provided Bishop Ripoll with $150 to be used to purchase fabric.
He estimated that $100 would provide fabric for the following:
- 6-8 white dress shirts
- 4 skirts
- 3 jumpers
The remaining $50 will
be used to purchase fleece to sew some children's clothing later
as winter approaches.
Missionary Cothing
Update March 2003
The fabric has been purchased;
and the Relief Society sisters met for the 2nd time to continue
sewing these items on March 5, 2003.
The Lacy, Cox, Ron Harris
and Mitchell families provided funds for this donation.
Missionary
Clothing Update June 2003
On May 27, an additional $134 was sent to the Chimbas Ward. Most
of these funds were used to finish outfitting one of their sister
missionaries who was departing the next week. The Ron Harris, Tefertiller,
and T. Wood families provided funds for this donation. The Chimbas
Ward is very grateful for the donations made; which has helped them
as they have struggled to outfit their missionaries with the clothing
and other items required. As
of August 21, 2003, the last of these 5 missionaries will enter
the MTC in Buenos Aires. Two more youth are planning on leaving
from the Chimbas Ward around December of 2003.

On January 24, 2004; another box was sent by overland mail to San
Juan. 5 jumpers, 3 suits, 1 raincoat, 5 t-shirts, 3 ties.
Update April 7, 2004
Some $100 was sent for missionary clothing. This was set aside for
Pablo. With it he was able to purchase a duffle-bag; and a nice
pair of shoes for his mission. Donna Minch provided these funds.
Missionary Clothing Update May 2004
The November 2004 box arrived March 25, 2004; and the January 2004
box arrived the first week of May 2004. One young man planning on
leaving in July (Pablo) was able to utilize some of the shirts and
a suit from these shipments. Yanina Ripoll, already serving in Buenos
Aires West, had a couple of dresses from the boxes sent to her.
